Jesus Christ is God.1 God exists in a Trinity, three persons: the Father,2 the Son,3 and the Holy Spirit.4 Jesus is the second person of that Trinity; He is God the Son (or the Son of God5). God the Father sent God the Son to become a human being by adding humanity to Himself, remaining fully God and becoming fully man.6 Because man is evil and deserving God’s wrath,7 Jesus came and lived a perfect life as a human.8 He then died for our sins to save us from God’s wrath and our sin.9 Three days after dying, He rose from the grave and now pleads on our behalf before the Father.10
Jesus Christ is the only way that we can know God;11 we couldn’t get to God because He’s holy,12 so He became like us.13 Jesus is the perfect prophet who reveals God to us fully,14 the perfect priest who offers Himself as a sacrifice for our sins and intercedes on our behalf,15 and the perfect King who rules and reigns over all of creation.16 He offers forgiveness of sins17, salvation from hell18, freedom from sin,19 and a restored relationship with God20 to those who will believe that He is the only way to ever have any of those things.21
If you want to learn more about Jesus, I’d suggest you try reading the Gospel of Mark. It’s a short book and really good for getting started. Additionally, I write a lot about Jesus on this blog.
