The answer to this question changes every few months, really. I tend to buy hardware, try it out, use it for a bit, sell it, then buy something else. That would annoy most people, but I’m the sort of person who reinstalls his operating system every few months anyway; a change in hardware is not a big deal for me. I’ll try to keep this post up to date, but I can’t make any promises.
My desktop is an Intel Core i5 2500k with 8GB of RAM and. I’ve got about 1.25TB of space split across two drives. My video card is an Nvidia 460GTX with768MB of RAM. It’s crazy fast. I use it with a 24 inch Dell 2408WFP monitor that I got for basically half-price on eBay a few years back. I also use a Logitech MX518 mouse, an oldy but a goody.
My laptop is an old IBM Thinkpad R61. I love Thinkpads because they are rock-solid computers. Mine has a 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo and (right now) 2GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive. I’m going to throw another 4GB of RAM in it, remove the cd-rom drive (who uses those anymore?), and install another hard drive.
My phone is an Virgin Mobile Optimus V. I hacked it to run Android 2.3 and it’s pretty stable despite the fact that I’m overclocking it. I switched out the keyboard on it for Swiftkey, which is absolutely wonderful.
That’s it! Unless you want to hear about my camera…
